Videos of evidence given to this inquiry.
Glen Poole
Glen is part of the Australian Men’s Health Forum. He explains that the men’s experience of suicidality is different (on average) from women’s. Men experience the practical problems they face as primary and the emotional effect as secondary.
This means that simply asking men to ‘talk more’ does not address the core issue.
Prof. Rob Whitley
Professor Whitley, is a suicide researcher from McGill University, Montreal, Canada. Rob introduces research evidence into explanations for high levels of male suicide and also into which types of intervention are likely to be most effective in reducing it.
Prof. Nav Kapur
This presentation, on suicide in middle-aged men, is uploaded with permission of NCISH at the University of Manchester. It looks at the evidence around the high incidence of suicide in middle-aged men. Nav Kapur is Professor of Psychiatry and Population Health at the University of Manchester.
